2009 was the year everything changed. Twitter exploded, facebook grew up, YouTube boomed to one billion views per day, and we earned the respect of traditional media! Horseshoe Bay Resort is a premier lake and golf resort located outside of Austin, TX. They are one of the few resorts in the country that have embraced facebook, Twitter, and Youtube to bring a heightened experience to resort guests. They are offering golf and tennis tips on Youtube, as well as some really fun behind the scenes video of resort staff making the Horseshoe Bay Experience happen! For the management team, social media is less about marketing, and more about engaging and creating as much value as possible for their guests.

The fans are affectionately known as “Word Nerds” or “Cookies”, and no other fans in social media even come close!

Dafna Michaelson’s picture should be in the dictionary next to the definition of inspiration. She left her job to pursue a dream. There were times when her funds ran very low, travel was difficult, and personal family sacrifices took their emotional toll. What @ScottMonty and @Ford Motor Company have accomplished in 2009 is nothing short of monumental. Ford was an aging company with an image problem in a dying industry dominated by government bailouts and job cuts. However, with a great corporate culture and a solid mix of traditional/social media marketing, it was cool to drive a Ford again thanks to campaigns like American Idol sponsorships and the Fiesta Movement.
